Dr. Kyle E. Litz, CTO of Schenectady-based Auterra, Inc, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. The designation FRSC is given to a group of elected Fellows who have made outstanding contributions to chemistry. The names of newly elected Fellows are published each year in The Times (London). Dr. Litz was one of 152 admitted Fellows announced in the May edition of RSC News.

“I am deeply honored to be included amongst such an esteemed group,” said Dr. Kyle Litz. His chemistry career started with BF Goodrich, where he helped improve addition polymerization catalysts. His career in chemistry continued at GE Global Research in Niskayuna, NY where he worked on oxidation catalysis and OLED emissive materials. Dr. Litz has brought three catalysts from lab research projects to full commercial implementation.

Dr. Litz leads a team of researchers at Auterra developing catalysts and related processes for the environmental remediation and upgrading of heavy sour crude oils and bitumen. “It’s rare for an American to be admitted as a Fellow, let alone an industrial researcher, ” said Eric Burnett, Chairman, President, and CEO of Auterra. “It’s also validation of the hard work and caliber of Kyle and his research team.”
